Ironing Made Easy
It is not the most exciting chore around the house, but a
necessary one for many people. Ironing ... you either love it or hate it. Some
prefer just to have their dress clothes taken to the cleaners and not mess with
ironing themselves, but for those of us who iron at home, there are some tips
to making the chore much simpler.
Ironing actually starts in the clothes dryer. A lot of
time and effort can be saved if the clothes to be ironed are cycled properly
through the dryer.
Let the clothes dry for a few minutes leaving them damp
when removing them from the dryer. One at a time take the damp clothing piece
and hang it on a hanger as it would normally hang in the closet. Hang the
clothes on the shower bar or other area where the air can circulate around them,
and do not hang
them in the closet. By allowing the clothes
to hang while damp, the wrinkles will tend to continue to release and the
garment may not even need ironing after this step.
If the item still needs some ironing be sure to start
with a good ironing surface. A wider board may be helpful for ironing larger
pieces of clothes. If you pull the item toward you when ironing, then the
places already pressed will gather more wrinkles as the item come close to you.
